Vancity Surrey Branch staff vote to join BCGEU

Employees at Vancity’s Surrey City Centre Community Branch have voted to join the B.C. Government and Service Employees' Union (BCGEU). Vancity is the largest credit union in English speaking Canada.

"I would like to welcome these new members to the BCGEU," said Darryl Walker, BCGEU president. "The BCGEU already represents over 400 members at Vancity and we're delighted that employees at Branch 32 are joining these existing members."

“Vancity is known for its commitment to community and environmental issues as well as to the financial bottom line," said Walker.

The BCGEU recently signed a "Memorandum of Agreement" with Vancity that created a joint partnership committee. The committee works together to find community initiatives that reflect common values and a shared commitment to social and economic justice.
