BCIT Support workers to take strike vote

Date:  Monday, October 22nd
Time:  2:30 PM – 3:30 PM (early shifts)
and 3:30 PM – 4:30 PM (everyone else)
Place:  SW1, Room 1205

Your Committee met with the Employer on October 11th and 12th, to bargain a renewed Collective Agreement. We were met with an Employer that had been given no mandate to bargain. That is the message that we have been receiving at other post-secondary tables. Your Committee decided to take a stand and proposed a package that would provide a reasonable wage increase.

The wage package presented to BCIT on October 12th is the same package won for the BCGEU Master Agreement. BCIT said that it is not within their mandate to agree to the package. Our package is exactly what the BCGEU Master Agreement settled for.
