Brenda Brown - VP Bio

Brenda Brown has been a trade union activist for nearly three decades. In 1985, she was elected president of CUPE local 2516.

Two years later, Brenda attended the Labour College of Canada at the University of Ottawa.

During the eight-week residential program, she studied political science, sociology, economics, labour law, and labour history.

Brenda became a member of the BCGEU in 1995 and served as chair of Local 406 from 2001 to 2011. In 2003, she was elected the 2nd representative to the provincial executive for the Health Services Component (C4). In 2006, Brenda was elected as component chair – the largest BCGEU component at that time. In 2007, she attended the Commonwealth StudyConference in India as a BCGEU delegate.

Brenda is proud of Component 4’s work in the creation of the BCGEU’s newest component, Community Health Services – Component 8.

Brenda was elected vice president at the 2011 convention. She looks forward to her new role representing 65,000 BCGEU members.
