All employees who are eligible to enroll in the Municipal Pension Plan will be enrolled automatically on April 1, 2010. Waivers (opting out) can be submitted at any time within 90 days after that date.
Some employers are saying the pension plan won't be funded by their funding ministries. The pension plan is a collective agreement obligation agreed to by the Community Social Services Employers' Association (CSSEA), an arm of the provincial government. The government has to provide sufficient funding. Don't allow this misinformation to affect your decision to enroll in the pension plan.
