Contract negotiations begin for BCGEU members at Community Living B.C.

Negotiations to reach a new collective agreement for Community Living B.C. (CLBC) members began the week of February 1, 2010. Your bargaining committee tabled proposals with the employer that reflect the priorities identified by members in questionnaires received prior to bargaining.

Issues discussed in the first round of bargaining include posting appeal procedure, arbitrators, joint training and the new Early Intervention Program. The parties reviewed current memoranda and the union secured amendments to ensure that issues such as workload apply to all members, rather than to a specific component group.

A joint committee was formed to review the collective agreement for housekeeping changes. The committee will begin its review on February 16.

The parties plan to set future bargaining dates in March, which will be communicated to members in a future bulletin.
