Lake Country Lodge and Manor workers join BCGEU
Health care employees at the Lake Country Lodge and Manor in Winfield voted last Friday to join the B.C. Government and Service Employees Union to have a voice at their workplace.
The 44 workers will join 234 BCGEU members working for Slizek Investments operating as AdvoCare Health Services.
"I am proud to welcome these health care workers to the BCGEU," says Darryl Walker, president of the BCGEU.
"The Lake Country Lodge and Manor workers saw how the BCGEU got respect and better working conditions for our members at other AdvoCare worksites and they wanted to join."
Lake Country Lodge and Manor workers include care aids, licensed practical nurses, multi-skilled workers, community care aides (home care) and cooks.
