MDS Ratification Vote Results

This is to advise that the vote was counted yesterday and the tentative agreement was ratified by 78%.

I would like to once again take this opportunity to thank those of you who came out to the membership meetings prior to mediation with the Employer. Your input and communication back to each worksite assisted the Bargaining Committee to secure a good collective agreement.

I would also like to thank Rose Chee, Mandy De Fields and Rose Moore for their dedication and commitment to the negotiation process from start to finish. Bargaining may be concluded, but there is ongoing work to be done through the Joint Labour Management Committee, the OH&S Committees and a plan to connect with shop stewards from each geographic area. Through these processes the bargaining unit will be more effective in dealing with worksite issues.
