October 18, 2012: the 2nd annual Health Care Assistant Day
October 18 is Health Care Assistant Day. It is a day to recognize and celebrate our front-line caregivers.
BCGEU proudly represents thousands of health care aides and community health workers across BC, each one of them working tirelessly to provide compassion and dignity to our society’s most vulnerable citizens.
“Our health care aides and community health workers do so much more than provide basic care. They truly make a difference in their client’s lives, growing a unique bond with a foundation of trust. They provide the respect, comfort, and safety that every elder and disabled citizen deserves,” says BCGEU President Darryl Walker.
“We must celebrate the these invaluable workers who provide such key services and we need to recognize the important role they play within our health care system.”
There are over 37,000 health care assistants across BC, each of who is an integral part of BC’s health care team. Please be sure to acknowledge and thank our province’s health care assistants on October 18 for the incredibly important work they do.

Please send in your photos, as we would like to post them online and show how health care workers across the province celebrated this special day.
Email them to Communications communications@bcgeu.ca and we will share them with the rest of the union.
