RIVERVIEW NEWS

The B.C. Government is moving ahead with the final closure of Riverview Hospital. The closure is slated for June 2012.

In June 2011, BCGEU members began receiving layoff notice. The closure affects more than 300 BCGEU members in components 2, 6, 12 and 20.

In mid-September, members began receiving notice the Article 13 process had moved into Phase 2. The BCGEU held a meeting with members on Monday, September 19 to discuss the process.

The closure process will take many months to complete. Members have a lot of protection and rights in their collective agreement.

The process will be done in a way that has the least amount of impact on members, whose interests and rights will be protected.

Members will have many questions during the closure process. Please keep checking this webpage and the BCGEU website for updates.
