The Provincial Vice-Presidents have a wide range of assignments tailored to meet the diverse demands of the membership. They are involved in all activities, representing members inside our union, with other organizations such as the B.C. Federation of Labour, and with federal, provincial and local government bodies and agencies.
Provincial Vice-Presidents have responsibilities on many union committees. They work with bargaining councils and locals, and represent the labour viewpoint on issues in community meetings and other public forums. They help to co-ordinate our union's many campaigns.
Provincial Vice-Presidents have provided leadership on issues that include job security and bargaining, child and elder care advocacy, increased protection for workers' health and safety, advancing the rights of women in the workplace and society, promoting community and social action, speaking out for environmental protection and human rights, and strengthening international solidarity.
Provincial Vice-Presidents also liaise with components and visit dozens of worksites to hear first-hand the issues of concern to members.
The broad experience, knowledge and skills developed in vice-presidential positions strengthen our union and ensure our union has a deeper pool of able leaders to draw upon.
