Adjustment plan reached for BC Pavilion Corporation members at BC Place
Job security and formal rights to recall achieved
The British Columbia Government and Service Employees' Union (BCGEU) and BC Pavilion Corporation (BC Place) are pleased to announce that they have reached an agreement on an adjustment plan that addresses the issues related to the temporary closure of BC Place Stadium during the roof replacement period that is anticipated to commence on or about April 7, 2010.
The parties met in good faith, and in cooperation have developed an adjustment plan that recognizes the importance of a skilled and experienced workforce that will remain available on the BC Place's re-commencement of event operations. The plan also ensures no loss of employment and that you all will be offered a return to work with seniority at the newly renovated facility.
The Adjustment Plan addresses:
- Continued employment with BC Place on the re-commencement of event operations;
- Specific work opportunities during the temporary closure; by creating opportunities to apply for positions with the prime construction contractor while remaining on BC Place payroll;
- Opportunities to place your name on a list to be called for short term work;
- Opportunities to apply for employment at the PNE during the 2010 football season;
- Procedures for you to maintain your current contact information;
- The possibility of full-time work opportunities on re-opening for those who have been placed on the Eligibility List that was negotiated to recognize employees whose work hours warrant placement on this list; and
- Recall to work in 2011.
Please remember it will be your responsibility to advise the employer of your current contact information throughout the temporary closure.

The employer and the union want to thank everyone for their continued cooperation in working in a professional and respectful manner during the balance of Paralympics and the final hosting of the Auto Show before the construction begins.
If you have any questions during the shutdown period, the Human Resources office will remain open as well; you may also contact the union office.
