2012 is an important year for BCGEU members. Collective agreements for about 85 per cent of our members will be renegotiated this year in a number of sectors — including B.C. At the bargaining conference in December 2011, members identified wage increases, job security and improved benefits as their main contract requests to take to the various bargaining tables in 2012.

The BCGEU represents approximately 65,000 members across British Columbia. Roughly 25,000 work in provincial government service. The rest work in a wide variety of sectors, including: community health, community social services, child care, community colleges, casinos, hotels, highways maintenance, and transportation.
