Ratification, tentative agreement information for BCGEU members at LifeLabs

On January 30, 2013 your BCGEU bargaining committee and LifeLabs reached a tentative agreement. 

A comprehensive report and the details of the agreement will be available at the upcoming ratification meetings. Your bargaining committee and the staff representative will be present at the meetings to provide details of the tentative agreement and to answer your questions. 

Highlights of the settlement include:

• All employees on payroll as of December 31, 2012, receive a one-time lump sum payment equal to 2% of gross pay in 2012, payable upon ratification;
• 1% increase for all employees effective January 1, 2013;
• 1% increase for all employees effective July 1, 2013;
•  2% increase effective July 1, 2014;
• LTD and Health and Welfare benefits remain unchanged;
• Improvements to sick leave, scheduling, hours of work and substitution pay.
• Three-year term, expiring December 31, 2014;

Your bargaining committee is unanimously recommending that the members accept this tentative agreement.  They request that the members vote Yes to ratify the agreement.

Date:  Wednesday, February 6th
 Location:   BCGEU Headquarters (Tom Kozar Rooms A&B)
 Time:  6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Date:  Thursday, February 7th
Location:   Area 01 BCGEU Victoria Area Office (Boardroom)
Time:  6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Date:  Thursday, February 7th
Location:   Area 02 BCGEU Nanaimo Area Office (Boardroom)
Time:  6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Please make every effort to attend and cast your ballot. If you’re unable to attend, you can also cast your ballot at Burnaby Lab, Victoria Lab or your local BCGEU area office.

Balloting packages will be sent to Patient Service Centres in Gibsons, Sechelt, Campbell River, Port Alberni, Courtenay, Qualicum Beach, Parksville and Nelson. Those members may join the February 5th meeting by conference call and return their ballots by mail, post marked not later than 5:00 pm, Friday, February 15th. 

For members located at Patient Service Centres in Duncan, Mill Bay and Lake Cowichan, Mandy De Fields will visit the worksite on February 7th to deliver ballots. Call in numbers for the February 5th meeting will be provided to these worksites.
