BCIT support staff strike vote results
Faced with an employer with no mandate to bargain, your Bargaining Committee presented the BCIT Employer Committee with a fair and reasonable settlement proposal that mirrored the Master Agreement settlement. The Employer responded by saying that it did not have a mandate to bargain. Your Committee decided to ask the membership for a strike mandate to demonstrate that BCIT Support members will not settle for zeros anymore.
The membership demonstrated its resolve for an equitable settlement, voting 89% in favour of strike action to back the Committee.
“BCIT Support staff have given their bargaining committee the strong strike mandate it needs. That should send a clear message to the employer. You are prepared to stand up for a fair and reasonable settlement,” says BCGEU President Darryl Walker.
No strike activity is planned at this time.
