BCGEU’s regional conference kicks off in Victoria tonight

Federal NDP by-election candidate Murray Rankin keynote speaker

The B.C. Government and Service Employees’ Union (BCGEU) is holding a regional conference in Victoria this week. The conference will be kicked off tonight with an opening speech by BCGEU President Darryl Walker.

The keynote speaker is Murray Rankin, the newly nominated federal NDP candidate for the upcoming Victoria by-election.

Speeches begin at 7pm tonight at the Grand Pacific Hotel’s Vancouver Island Ballroom. About 135 BCGEU delegates will be in attendance.

The session is open to the media.

The BCGEU represents 12,000 members working in Victoria, and 4,400 members working in other parts of Vancouver Island.
