New: Changes to the Canada Pension Plan and Old Age Security
In 2011, a number of changes were made to the Canada Pension Plan (CPP) and Old Age Security (OAS). Please check out these resources for more information:

BCGEU members belong to a variety of pension and retirement plans. Below are descriptions and links to pages containing pension plan information that applies to you.
BC Public Service Pension Plan (PSPP)
Members of Components 1,2,5,6,12 & 20 are covered by B.C.’s Public Service Pension Plan.
Municipal Pension Plan (MPP) - Component 3
Members in Component 3 – Community Social Services participate in a variety of retirement arrangements. Most are covered by Group Registered Retirement Savings Plans. Effective April 1, 2010, eligible workers were given the option to join the Municipal Pension Plan. The BCGEU recommends eligible members enrol. Those already enroled can purchase past service. The majority of members in Component 4, specifically those in the facilities, community health and health science professional sectors, are participants in the Municipal Pension Plan. Some members are "grandparented" in the Public Service Pension Plan.
College Pension Plan (CPP)
Members of Component 7 participate in a variety of pension arrangements. Instructors participate in the College Pension Plan. Education support, libraries and legal services members participate in the Municipal Pension Plan.
BCGEU Pension Plan
The majority of members in Component 10 participate in the BCGEU Pension Plan. Some members participate in Group Registered Retirement Savings Plans.
Component 17
Members of Component 17 participate in a diverse range of pension arrangements. Crown corporation members generally participate in the Public Service Pension Plan, local government members participate in the Municipal Pension Plan, credit union members in an employer-sponsored pension plan and some of the remaining members participate in Group Registered Retirement Savings Plans.
Notice to BCGEU Retiring Members
If you are leaving the BCGEU due to retirement and would like to stay in touch with union news, you can do that by continuing to receive the Provincial.

BC FORUM
A province-wide organization for retired union members. The organization lobbies on behalf of seniors and provides a number of services.
BCGEU members have their first year's subscription fees paid by the BCGEU.
