BCGEU forests report makes the news and the legislature

The recent release of our report, BC Forests in Crisis: A Community Call for Reform , received good news coverage across the province. Check out our campaign website for a sampling of the news items.

NDP opposition critic for forestry Norm Macdonald also took up our report in the estimates debate for the Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations on May 17th. He pressed Forests Minister Steve Thomson with a number of tough questions based on the report.

The impact of deep funding and staff cuts to BC's Forest Service, and the need for more local control over local forests were among the issues discussed.
