The Salvation Army Stevenson House, New Westminster - bargaining update
After 5 days in negotiations, followed by one day in mediation talks at the BC Labour Relations Board, your BCGEU Bargaining Committee and the Management Committee reached a tentative agreement, with the assistance of mediator Christina Bains on November 22nd.
The terms of settlement are subject to ratification by both parties. Your BCGEU Bargaining Committee
unanimously recommends acceptance of this tentative agreement.
Attached for your consideration is a copy of the signed Memorandum of Agreement, and a copy of all proposed language changes, previously agreed upon by the parties. Where language is struck (deleted), it has been deleted. Where language is underlined (added), it has been added.
Highlights
Language:
- Two-year renewal agreement, expiring March 31, 2013
- Improved and expanded seniority list language
- Improved harassment language
- Compassionate care leave incorporated into the agreement
- Renew Memorandum of Agreement #1 and #2
- Delete Memorandum of Agreement #3
Monetary:
- A cash bonus representing one percent (1%) of wages earned in the 12 months preceding ratification, for all employees employed as of November 22, 2011
- 1% wage increase – all classifications – April 1, 2012
- Christmas bonus – regular employees
Your BCGEU Bargaining Committee unanimously agrees this is the best renewal agreement we can achieve in the current economic environment, and unanimously recommends acceptance – a YES vote – in the ratification vote scheduled for Friday, December 16, 2011.
