BCNU files application for divisive raid

BCNU filed a number of applications with the BC Labour Relations Board (LRB) yesterday to raid LPNs from BCGEU and other unions.

But as predicted, they did not submit a province-wide application and have left out many LPN worksites across the province.

BCNU is not interested in a province-wide strategy and is instead trying to capture LPNs in specific health authorities.

BCGEU remains confident that LPNs with our union are choosing to stay with the BCGEU and maintain their independent voice.

It's important to remember that in 2009, the BCNU filed raid applications in every health authority and also insisted that it had signed up a majority of LPNs.

But when the Labour Relations Board investigated their claims, it found they did not have a majority in any of their applications. All their applications were dismissed.

We thank you for your support and assure you that we are doing everything we can to ensure that your independent voice is protected and that this raid has minimal impact on your worksite.

We will keep you updated as this process unfolds, in the meantime, nothing at your workplace will change – your collective agreement is still in place and your stewards and area office staff representatives are available to you if you need help.

If you have any questions, please email lpn@bcgeu.ca or call 1-888-991-6062 and ask to speak with an LPN organizer.
