BC Housing Management Administration tentative agreement reached

A tentative agreement was reached with BC Housing on December 2, 2011. 

Highlights of the settlement are:

  • $750.00 signing bonus, effective March 31, 2012;
  • a comprehensive sexual and personal harassment appeal process, including language to cover No Bullying;
  • a joint committee to review current job descriptions of every classification;
  • seniority is the deciding factor in competitions, if competency and qualifications are reasonably equal;
  • a stream-lined grievance procedure that tightens up the timelines and addresses problems with the current process;
  • additional access to family illness leave articles, expanding the definition of family to include spouses;
  • new language to address compassionate care leave, family illness & other religious observances;
  • additional access to leaves for medical & dental appointments for dependent parents and adults;
  • a joint Return to Work Committee to develop and implement a program to assist members returning from illness or injury;
  • various changes to make the workplace more environmentally friendly;
  • 2 year collective agreement, expiring March 31, 2012.

Your committee is recommending acceptance of the tentative agreement.

Details concerning the ratification vote process will be circulated shortly, along with a complete copy of all the changes to the language for your consideration.
