Community Social Services - 2012 Bargaining Update
BCGEU community-based social service workers are returning to the bargaining table in 2012. Your current collective agreement expires on March 31, 2012.
The BCGEU community social services bargaining committee was elected at the union’s bargaining conference held last December. Your bargaining committee members for the three sectors (Community Living, General Services and Aboriginal Services) are listed below, for your reference.
The bargaining committee is looking at bargaining to start around the end of February, but the exact dates have not been confirmed yet.
Meanwhile, the BCGEU bargaining committee is meeting early this week to discuss bargaining strategy.
All the unions in the sector will meet later this week for discussions. The BCGEU is the largest union in the community social services sector, representing about two-thirds of workers. CUPE, HEU, HSA are the next largest followed by CLAC, UFCW, USW, CSWU and BCNU.
There are 220 employers in community social services divided in three sectors: Community Living, General Services and Aboriginal Services.
The Community Social Services Employers’ Association represents all the employers in the sector.
