Local 504 officer elections and nominating meeting

AGENDA
The Union's Constitution and Bylaws prescribe Local Officer Elections be held every three (3) years. This is formal notice that nominations for the following Local 504 Executive positions are open on January 30, 2012 at 8:30 am.

  • Chairperson (1)
  • 1st Vice-Chairperson (1)
  • 2nd Vice-Chairperson (1)
  • Treasurer (1)
  • Recording Secretary (1)
  • Member at Large (4)
  • Member at Large (Youth Worker) (1) (must be age 29 or less at the close of nominations)

Nomination Period
Nominations must be received either (a) via fax, mail, or in person to the Fraser Valley Area Office by Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at 5:00 pm or (b) in person at the 'Local Nominating Meeting' commencing that same evening at 7:00 pm. In an effort to use less paper and be more earth friendly, only one nomination form is attached to this notice.  Please make any necessary copies and ensure you clearly mark which position you are being nominated for

Local Nominating Meeting
The 'Local Nominating Meeting' will be held on March 6, 2012 at 7:00 pm at the Fraser Valley Area Office – 8555 198A Street, Langley, BC. If you wish to be nominated in person at the 'Local Nominating Meeting' and are unable to attend your nominator must be in receipt of a letter from you expressing your willingness to stand for the position and be able to present it at the meeting.

Biographies
In the case of a contested position(s) candidates have the opportunity to provide biographies that are published the Union's website. The deadline for the submission of biographies to the Fraser Valley Office is March 8, 2012 at 5:00 pm.

Election Period
In the case of a contested position(s) candidates will be provided with the names and contact information for stewards and have 30 clear days as per the Local Bylaws to campaign prior to the 'Voting Period'. 'The Election Period' will commence March 8, 2012 and carry through April 6, 2012.

Voting Period

The 'Voting Period' will be from Saturday April 7, 2012 to Friday April 13, 2012. Times and locations for balloting will be provided in a separate notice to all worksites including the time and date ballots will be counted.
