Local 1004 general meeting - call for nominations

AGENDA
The Union's Constitution and Bylaws prescribe Local Officer Elections be held every three (3) years. This is formal notice that nominations are now open for the following Local 1004 Executive positions:

Chairperson (1)
1st Vice-Chairperson (1)
2nd Vice-Chairperson (1)
Treasurer (1)
Recording Secretary (1)
Executive Members at Large (5 including one young worker representative. Young workers are defined as 29 years or younger at close of nominations.)

Nominations must be received either (a) via fax, mail, or in person to the Fraser Valley Area Office by Thursday, February 16, 2012 at 5:00 pm or (b) in person at the 'Local Nominating Meeting' commencing the next evening at 7:00 pm at the Slumber Lodge, 250 Fort Street in Hope, BC V0X 1L0. In an effort to use less paper and be more earth friendly, only one nomination form is attached to this notice. Please make any necessary copies and ensure you clearly mark which position you are being nominated for. Nominations will also be taken off the floor at the meeting. Nominations will be confirmed at this meeting and all nominees are encouraged to attend to accept their nomination. If you wish to be nominated in person at the 'Local Nominating Meeting' and are unable to attend your nominator must be in receipt of a letter from you expressing your willingness to stand for the position and be able to present it at the meeting.

If more than one nomination is received for a position, an election will be conducted. Candidates have the right to submit a biography (not to exceed 250 words) which will be distributed to the membership in the event of an election and must be submitted within one (1) day of close of nominations (Monday, February 20, 2012) at 5:00 pm to the BCGEU Fraser Valley Area Office.
