BC Housing Management – Maintenance agreement to expire on March 31st

It is time to begin the process of collective bargaining. The first part is the selection of a bargaining committee and the distribution of a questionnaire to the membership so you have an opportunity to inform your committee about the issues that matter most to you.

You will find a bargaining survey on-line via SurveyMonkey here. It is to be completed by February 24th. Surveys will also be mailed out. You may choose to use either survey format, but only one will be counted in determining the final results.

You will also find a nomination form enclosed. If you or your co-worker is seeking nomination for the Bargaining Committee, this form must be completed as instructed and returned to BCGEU Headquarters by February 24th by facsimile at 604-294-5092.

There are three positions on the Bargaining Committee to be elected. If more than three candidates are nominated, there will be an election. Each candidate may complete, and send back with their nomination form, a campaign bulletin or biography of 250 words or less which the Union will distribute to the membership on their behalf. Any other campaign material used by any candidate is their responsibility.

Once the Bargaining Committee has been elected, they will review the questionnaires and talk with the Shop Stewards and Staff Representatives to determine what issues they may need to address in collective bargaining.  Please note that any resolutions collected at local membership meetings should also be submitted for review.

Thank you for your anticipated participation in this important process.

In solidarity,
Linsay Buss
