River Rock Casino Resort Bargaining Update

Re:      Bargaining Update

Your Bargaining Committee resumed negotiations with your Employer on October 17th. Multiple days were spent at the table, and your committee is pleased to advise that progress has been made.

The Union and the Employer have agreed to arbitration language that will become part of River Rock's first collective agreement. Arbitration language is important. This allows the Union to take grievances that cannot be resolved to an independent arbitrator. Once an arbitrator has made a decision on a grievance, the decision is final, legally binding, and must be enforced.

Your Bargaining Committee sits directly across from your Employer at the negotiating table. It's difficult, intense work. Both sides at the table hold strong beliefs, so finding common ground can take some time! This is especially true for a first collective agreement. Every article, and every clause must be agreed to by both parties. Your committee is up to the challenge!

Bargaining is tentatively set to resume during the final two weeks of November. Your committee will send out regular updates on how talks have been going, when they resume.

In solidarity,

Your Bargaining Committee: Cherry Huang, Hayman Sung, Harvinder Jaswal, San Chen, Glenn Matheson, Zenaida Ordonez, Watson Tseng, Eric Escobar
