Stephanie Smith

BCGEU Treasurer

Stephanie began her involvement with the union movement in 1981 – first in New Zealand, and then with the Children Services Employees' Union, which merged with BCGEU in 1995/96.

A member of Local 303, Stephanie has served as a local executive member and chair, as well as the Area 03 Cross Component chair for more than 10 years.

Prior to being elected BCGEU Treasurer, Stephanie served as 1st vice chair of Community Social Services (CSS) Component 3, as a component representative on the BCGEU Provincial Executive, and as a member of the CSS Bargaining Association.

Stephanie has extensive experience with the labour movement and as an advocate for progressive social causes.

In addition to serving on Provincial Executive committees, including the BCGEU Women’s Committee and the Child and Family Life Work Balance Committee, she is involved as a Labour representative on the Federal Child Care Human Resource Sector Council Executive Committee.

A tireless advocate for worker rights, Stephanie has attended provincial, national and international conferences to speak on behalf of BCGEU members’ issues, and continues to engage in educational and training opportunities within the labour movement.

Stephanie looks forward to the opportunity to connect with and represent members in her role as BCGEU Treasurer.
