Last call – ratification voting closes Friday at 5 pm for members in direct government service

There are two days left in the ratification voting period for BCGEU members in direct government service. All votes must be cast and received at a BCGEU union office by 5pm on Friday January 24, 2014.

Please contact your workplace steward if you have not yet voted.

BCGEU calls on WCB to include workplace violence as highest risk level

In a meeting with the WCB, BCGEU president Darryl Walker drew attention to workplace violence which puts members risk. He also called on the WCB to include workplace violence on the list of highest levels of risk.

Sheriff Services return option of wearing internal or external ballistic vests

In September of 2010 the BC Sheriff Services changed the policy on inner/outer ballistic protective vests. Under the change, Deputy Sheriffs would only be allowed to wear an inner carrier vest worn under their uniform shirts. Read more »
