BCGEU stands with striking brewery workers in Toronto

The BCGEU is proud to stand with members of the Canadian Union of Brewery and General Workers (CUBGW) in their fight for a fair contract.

Despite boasting revenues in the tens of billions, MolsonCoors has repeatedly come to the table demanding concessions from employees at their Toronto brewery.

“BCGEU’s 72,000 members are standing strong with our friends at CUBGW in Toronto in their fight for real pensions, fair wages, and respect on the job,” said BCGEU President Stephanie Smith.

Workers at the CUBGW voted to go on strike after months of negotiations made it clear that MolsonCoors had no interest in bargaining a collective agreement that fairly compensated them for their work. Picket lines went into effect on January 12, 2017.

The BCGEU and CUBGW are both components of the National Union of Public and General Employees (NUPGE), which represents over 370,000 workers across Canada.
