Mask usage in BCGEU buildings
(Updated Apr 27, 2023)
:
Effective immediately, we are making a change to our building protocols regarding mask usage in our buildings.
Mask use is now optional in our buildings, including in common areas and meeting rooms.
Staff and visitors to BCGEU buildings may, of course, continue to use masks and other layers of protection based on their own comfort and risk factors. We ask that we respect others and wear masks if requested in groups.
Please be reminded that no one should attend BCGEU buildings if they have active cold or flu-like symptoms.
BCGEU non-medical masks FREE FOR MEMBERS
The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the world as we know it. Things that didn’t require a lot of thought, like going to the grocery store, have become tasks that take some planning to keep everyone safe.
To support our members through these unprecedented times, the BCGEU has ordered non-medical masks1 for all of our members. These masks are not certified to stop all transmission nor are they intended for use in a health care setting. However, they can be used in any public context where it may not be possible to maintain physical distancing.
1Canada’s chief public health officer recommends the use of non-medical masks as an “added layer of protection” wherever physical distancing is not possible. Likewise, BC’s Provincial Health Officer is also strongly recommending the use of non-medical masks in any situation where physical distancing may not be possible.
