Correctional Officers, BCGEU members and activists showed up to protest on
June 3, 2019 outside of the Prince George Regional Correctional Centre to bring attention to the rapidly increasing incidents of violence against correctional officers. This is the third protest that has taken place. Previous protests were held at Fraser Regional Corrections Centre, Surrey Pretrial Services Centre and the Vancouver Island Regional Correctional Centre and further protests are being planned for other areas of the province. These protests have been getting the attention of local media which has helped in raising public awareness about the crisis faced by our members and the targeted violence towards Correctional Officers.
