Exercise your legal right to vote on Oct. 19 - BCGEU

Just a reminder that eligible voters in the upcoming federal election must have three consecutive hours to cast their ballot.

This means your employer must give you time off if your work schedule on October 19, 2015 doesn’t allow for three consecutive hours.

The voting hours in B.C. are 7:00 am to 7:00 pm or 7:30 am to 7:30 pm, depending on your time zone.

The employer isn’t allowed to deduct any pay, but does have the right to tell you at what point during your work day the time off will be given.

This is the law. Your employer must comply.
