Tentative settlement reached on a significant policy grievance - BCGEU

The BCGEU and the Public Service Agency (PSA) have reached an agreement in principle to settle a recent policy grievance concerning clauses 37.5 – Agreement to Continue in Force, and 2.10 – Time Off for Union Business.

The settlement means that:

• The normal administrative provisions for union leave without pay will be reinstated. Members will remain on their normal payroll during these leaves and the union will reimburse the employer for the cost of the wages and benefits.

• Members will suffer no loss of seniority or vacation entitlements.

• The employer will pay their share of pension contributions for union leave without pay during our dispute.

• Case conferences for expedited arbitration will resume, as will discussions regarding exclusions.

It’s important to note that this settlement only applies to union leave without pay, not to days on which members were on strike. Any related matters concerning strike activity remain as outstanding issues at the bargaining table.
