Your union recently negotiated an agreement with the Corrections Branch to correct a pay anomaly for Correctional Supervisors.
Correctional Supervisors who were at Grid 16, Step 5 prior to being promoted to Correctional Supervisor positions and are at Step 1 or 2 of Grid 24 are to be placed at Step 3 effective April 5, 2015. They will also receive retroactive pay to April 1, 2015.
In April of this year, there was an increase in the Temporary Market Adjustment (TMA) for correctional officers, which moved their rate of pay from Grid 16 to Grid 18. This increase created an unanticipated inequity of pay for correctional supervisors promoted prior to April 1, 2015. Effective April 1, 2015, correctional officers’ base classification was increased to Grid 18 with a 1 Grid TMA. As a result of this change, correctional officers at Grid 18 Step 5 promoted to correctional supervisor positions after April 1, 2015 are placed at Grid 24 Step 3 with a 1 Grid TMA, which is two steps higher than the correctional supervisors appointed prior to April 1, 2015.
We are pleased that the union and the employer were able to work together to resolve this issue.
In solidarity,
