The WCB has informed the union they will be conducting an inspection at the Kamloops Regional Correctional Centre (KRCC) starting next week. The inspection will run from September 23 to September 26.

This is the latest in a series of comprehensive, in-depth inspections of all nine provincial correctional centres that came about following meetings between the WCB, your Component 1 Executive and BCGEU staff representatives.

WCB officers will be interviewing Correctional Officers at KRCC. The BCGEU encourages members to speak with the WCB officers about their workplace safety concerns. These interviews will be completely confidential and private (union representation if requested) with only WCB officers present. It is very important that any examples given to the WCB officers includes specific times, dates, etc.

In our business the safety of our officers is paramount. Our members do a great job protecting public safety, and they have a right to a safe workplace.
