With September fast approaching, the Union thought it would be a good time to check in with our members at River Rock Casino, and update you all on some recent goings on.
Recently it has been brought to the attention of the Union that some Employer representatives may have been making comments to members about the Union that are simply not true. Misinformation leads to the spreading of rumors, which creates unnecessary anxiety and division. For that reason the Union is happy to help set the record straight!
- Rumor: the Union refuses to allow the Employer to offer wage increases to members at this time.
- Fact: the Union would never oppose wage increases for members at any time, even if a collective agreement is not in place.
- Rumor: the Union insists that the Employer follow through and discipline members for improper behavior
- Fact: the Union does not and would not ask an Employer to discipline a member. Discipline is the Employers choice. All the Union asks is that if discipline is warranted, then the principle of progressive discipline needs to be followed – we will always insist upon this!

Finally, although bargaining does not resume until September, rest assured the Union has been in regular contact with your Employer, advocating for our members, and addressing issues and concerns. Our field service, organizing, negotiation and legal advocacy departments are all working hard to see that our members are being looked after, and that a new collective agreement will soon be in place.
