Community Corrections workplace survey summary

In February, BCGEU’s Component 6 Executive and Research & Interactive Services conducted an extensive survey of members who work in the Community Corrections division of the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General.

The survey gathered information on workloads, worker classification and experience, health and safety, staffing conditions (including recruitment and retention), and overall workplace conditions and job satisfaction.

In addition to collecting important quantitative data, the questionnaire was used to assemble detailed written accounts on the impact of specific issues, practices and programs, including CORE programs and the Strategic Training Initiative in Community Supervision.

I want to thank the members who took the time to complete the survey and share their experiences.

Your union has received a clear message from members and will work with senior Community Corrections executives to work towards an environment in which dedicated frontline workers feel supported, respected and valued in the important work they do.
