Community Living CLBC - Bargaining update - BCGEU

As we previously advised, the CLBC and BCGEU bargaining committees have met for the first time at the end of July. Over the course of the three days we agreed on procedural matters and exchanged initial bargaining proposals.

Over the past week, a bargaining subcommittee met to work on improvements to the language of the collective agreement that will make it easier to use and understand.

Your BCGEU Committee has tabled bargaining proposals aimed at achieving better wages and benefits and improved working conditions that reflect the bargaining surveys that were completed by members. We also want to ensure that we have appropriate mechanisms to address workload issues for our members in light of the significant workload pressures facing CLBC. Recent financial materials tabled by CLBC indicate they are facing a 5% per year increase in service demands for the foreseeable future.

We have set dates for future negotiations this month and September and will update you as negotiations proceed.

Members are encouraged to ensure that their email address is up to date so that they can be kept up to date while bargaining continues.
