The current collective agreement for BCGEU members working in the Community Social Services sector expires March 31, 2025. Negotiation dates for a new collective agreement with the Community Social Services Employers’ Association (CSSEA) are to be determined.
We are seeking meaningful wage and health benefit improvements and new shift premiums for night, weekend and evening work, and our bargaining committee is focused on making progress on these issues.
B.C.’s Community Social Services sector has been grossly underfunded and undervalued for decades. Shameful political decisions by previous governments have cost us greatly. This round of bargaining is about continuing our fight for full pay equity with workers in the health and public sector - building on the gains we've made over multiple rounds of bargaining. By focusing on increases within the wage-grid, the immediate improvements we see to our paychecks after this round will also serve as a foothold on an accelerated path to pay we’ve always deserved.
