Union working to address issues at Fraser Regional Correctional Centre - BCGEU

Your union is concerned about the working conditions and workplace stressors facing members at the Fraser Regional Correctional Centre (FRCC). We are aware of the recent grievances that have been filed at the jail.  We are pressing for solutions in meetings with both FRCC management and Corrections Branch senior managers.

The Corrections and Sheriff Services Component met again with Court Services to discuss ongoing issues of concern to deputy sheriffs. Component 1 Vice President Dean Purdy, Director of Negotiations David Vipond, and Region 1 Coordinator Mike Eso met with the Assistant Deputy Minister of Court Services Linda Cavanagh, and Chief Sheriff Paul Corrado on June 29 at Sheriff Services headquarters in Vancouver.

Local 104 Enhanced Stewards workshop - BCGEU

As you know, the role of a Steward in the workplace is an extremely important one, and we want to make sure that our Stewards are equipped with all the information they need to continue to assist members every day.  That is why we are excited to provide a full day of education and networking with Stewards in our Local.  Topics for the workshop include demystifying arbitration, exploring common grievances and how to handle these, as well as, effective communication strategies.
