In September of 2010 the BC Sheriff Services changed the policy on inner/outer ballistic protective vests. Under the change, Deputy Sheriffs would only be allowed to wear an inner carrier vest worn under their uniform shirts.

The BCGEU is holding information sessions across the province to discuss the tentative 17th Master Agreement for members in the public service. The information sessions begin in Nanaimo and Courtenay on January 6, 2014.

A Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB) inspection of the Vancouver Island Regional Correctional Centre (VIRCC) has resulted in three orders being written. The inspection was carried out by three senior WCB inspectors between November 26-28.
