The BCGEU and two bargaining associations have reached tentative agreements for 25,000 BCGEU members who work for direct government, 15,000 members in the community health subsector and 11,000 members in community social services.

WCB issues health and safety orders following PGRCC inspection - BCGEU
A Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB) inspection of the Prince George Regional Correctional Centre (PGRCC) has resulted in seven orders being written. The inspection was carried out by three senior WCB inspectors between October 21-25.

Corrections and Sheriffs new benchmark job descriptions - BCGEU
The BCGEU Classifications department and members of the Component 1 executive (Dean Purdy, Component Chair VIRCC and Brian Campbell, Component 2nd Vice Chair NFPC) have been working with Corrections Branch officials, and four members from the BC Sheriff Service have been working with Ministry of Justice officials in order to agree on language in the new Corrections and Sheriffs benchmark job descriptions.

A WCB inspection of the Kamloops Regional Correctional Centre (KRCC) has resulted in six orders being written. The inspection was carried out by three senior WCB inspectors between September 23-26 and the report was released today.

Update - Bench mark for Corrections and Sheriffs - BCGEU
Over the past couple of months the BCGEU Classifications department and two members of the Component 1 executive (Dean Purdy, Component Chair VIRCC and Brian Campbell, Component 2nd Vice Chair NFPC) have been working with Corrections Branch officials and four members from the BC Sheriff's Service have been working with Ministry of Justice officials in order to agree on language in the new Corrections & Sheriffs bench marks.
