Penticton man Taylor Mcfadyen had the dubious distinction Monday of being the first person sentenced by a local judge to serve time at the new Okanagan Correctional Centre.

BCGEU acknowledges the vital work that of members in Sheriff Services, the province’s oldest law enforcement agency. 

Assaults on correctional officers and inmate violence at the North Fraser Pre-trial Centre (NFPC) continued over the holidays as violence inside the maximum security jails where our members work doesn’t take time off for Christmas.
