Union calls for better safety for B.C. jail guards - BCGEU

Corrections officers across British Columbia are concerned about increased violence in correctional facilities. Dean Purdy of the B.C. Safety concerns surface after guard assaulted at Surrey Pretrial - BCGEU

Safety concerns are being raised after a guard working at the Surrey Pretrial Centre was assaulted last week. BC Corrections confirmed it happened around 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 2 as an officer was delivering a meal to an inmate in his cell.   Read more... UWU/MoveUP

A serious staff assault occurred at the SPSC on January 2, 2018. The Correctional Officer received injuries to his face and hand, from a brutal unprovoked assault by an inmate.
