The Prince George Area Office is closed today and tomorrow to all staff and members due to a health and safety issue. Staff will be working from home. Members are asked not to attend the office the remainder of this week, but can email or phone their area office for assistance.

All BCGEU offices are open except for the Prince George area office as noted above. Members who wish to attend at a BCGEU office must follow BCGEU Safety Protocols, which include wearing a face mask in all common areas.
COMPONENT 3 - COMMUNITY SOCIAL SERVICES
Component 3 includes members who work in community social services.
These caring professionals provide supports, services, and resources to vulnerable families and individuals across the province. They include supporting adults and children with developmental disabilities, women and children fleeing violence, youth-at-risk, child care, community justice services, Aboriginal services, and employment services, among others. With over 12,000 workers in the sector, BCGEU is the largest community social services union in B.C.

The B.C. Government and Service Employees’ Union (BCGEU) is speaking out against a fee increase to rental tenants seeking a dispute resolution through the Residential Tenancy Branch (RTB).
The new fee took effect on Jan. 1.
A renter filing a dispute resolution application with the RTB will now have to pay $100. That’s up from $50. An appeal review will now cost $50, up from $25.
