Your BCGEU Deputy Sheriff activists are hard at work bringing your issues to the forefront of the government's agenda.
Paul Dhillon and Dave Iorizzo from Vancouver, along with Mike Redlick from Nanaimo and Scott van der Ree from Chilliwack met with Attorney General David Eby at the legislature at the end of last month. In a frank and candid discussion, they covered issues such as retention, recruitment and safety in great detail. They made sure to provide Minister Eby with several specific examples of challenges that deputies face in workplaces across the province.
Minister Eby has committed to following up on your concerns and we will hold him to that promise.
As we prepare to bargain a new Public Service Agreement in the next few months, we'll be counting on your participation to ensure that we get the best possible agreement that addresses the issues that are important to you. Please stay in contact with your stewards and local officers to make sure you get the opportunity to have your say in bargaining.
In Solidarity,
Stephanie Smith
