Re:     Discussion at Joint Labour Management Meeting

Following our recent Joint Labour-Management Meeting, the Union would like to make you aware of the following.

Right To Refuse Overtime
As per Article 16.8 you have the right to refuse overtime (except in an emergency).  You must be contacted and asked to work overtime. Overtime should not be entered into your work schedule without your prior agreement.

Clients Outside Your Scheduling Area
CHWs have the right to refuse clients outside their scheduling area. If you are given a client outside your scheduling area and you do not want to accept it – you must immediately call the office and notify them to ensure no missed visits occur.

Unassigned Hours
As per Article 15.4 (d and e) and 12.1 (e), unassigned hours that meet the listed criteria should be turned into a regular position. Please review the language of both these articles to learn more about the criteria.  Casuals that believe they work sufficient hours to constitute a regular position can contact a shop steward to request a review of their hours.  Note – the position will be posted as per the requirements of the Collective Agreement.
