Most members are aware that 2018 is the final year of Emcon's road and bridge maintenance contracts with the Province of BC for Service Contract Area 2 and Service Contract Area 3. The province is in the process of receiving bids for these service contract areas.

Members are reminded of the following provision of the collective agreement.

MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING 12

Re: Final Vacation Year

In the final vacation year of the Employer's road and bridge maintenance contract with the Province of BC, regular employees must schedule and take as time off all vacation credits, CTO, ETO and lieu day entitlements they have earned up to the expiration date of the Employer's road and bridge maintenance contract. Such credits to be used by the expiration date of the Employer's road and bridge maintenance contract. The Employer may choose to pay out such entitlements in part or in whole.

Members will continue to accrue vacation as provided for in the collective agreement with Emcon. In the event Emcon retains service contract(s) with the Province of BC members would continue to accrue vacation credits from Emcon. In the event another service provider attains service contract(s) with the Province of BC members would accrue vacation credits from that employer.
