Forensic Service Officers (FSO) Wage Grid MOU - BCGEU

After several months of negotiations, we are pleased to advise we have a signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), to increase wages for Forensic Services Officers (FSO) working at the Forensic Psychiatric Hospital.

Previously, the Employer agreed to grant Special Provincial Constable (SPC) Status within the hospital. As such, a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General and the Forensic Psychiatric Hospital appointing the FSOs as SPCs within the hospital, became effective May 30, 2019.

In addition to the SPC status, the Employer revised the Job Description and Duties (attached), which now requires the successful completion of Occupational First Aid Level II, all designated training and on-the-job orientation.

The new wage rate for a fully qualified FSO will be Grid 35 of the Health Services & Support Facilities Subsector Collective Agreement.

Current FSOs, will be deemed to have completed the training and on the job orientation, however they will be required to successfully complete Occupational First Aid Level II, in order to be fully qualified and move to the new wage grid.

The Union worked diligently to secure a fair wage grid for current employees unable to successfully complete the Occupational First Aid Level II after two attempts. These employees will retain employment and be placed at Grid 34 of the Health Services & Support Facilities Subsector Collective Agreement.

The Occupational First Aid Level II training will be scheduled in seniority order for all current employees required to take the training.

The Union is happy to have been able to achieve this MOU on your behalf.
