The Labour Management Committee meeting was held on March 13, 2019. It was attended by Alex-Lee Young and Larissa Karpa from the Bargaining Committee along with Staff Representative Fateh Born.
**An election for the two vacant non-Supervisory positions will be held soon. There are five candidates for two positions. There were no nominations for the Supervisory positions. The positions will be filled at a later date.
If you have a problem in your department that you think could be resolved at this meeting – talk to one of the worker Reps about it.
Here are some of the highlights from the meeting:
Article 15.10 (b) Shift Pick Preparation: Seniority lists are to be posted prior to shift pick. If there is a problem with the seniority list, it is to be resolved quickly and the shift pick will be delayed until it is resolved.
Article 15.14 Guaranteed Minimum Call In Pay: Workers required to attend meetings on days of rest shall be paid a minimum of four hours pay. Be aware that if the Employer is paying you for four hours – they have the right to require you to work for four hours.
Article 16.4 Sharing of Overtime: The Employer is improving their tracking of offers of overtime in order to meet the requirements for equitable sharing. Note: the agreement does not require overtime to be called out by seniority. The language means that workers are to be given equal offers of overtime over a period of time called an averaging period (that can be any period up to a year). It is not based on overtime hours worked – but on offers made.
Article 19.2 Employee Medical Form: Resolved! The cost of this form will be covered by the Employer up to $70 per incident. The Employer agrees that per incident means each time the Gateway form is required.
Article 21.3 First Aid Premium: Impasse. This issue cannot be resolved by the committee. Members of the Security Department may choose to pursue a group grievance regarding the inclusion of Level 1 First Aid in the agreement.
Article 24.2 Safety Footwear Allowance: Impasse. This issue cannot be resolved by the committee. Members of the F&B Department may choose to pursue a group grievance regarding the footwear allowance.
Next meeting: Wednesday, April 10, 2019.
