Like you, your union has been following the NTT DATA situation closely. Here is what we know at this time.

NTT DATA was the successful proponent for the Health Services RFP. In late October, it was announced NTT DATA had bought Sierra Systems. Unsurprisingly, this has generated questions and rumours regarding the role Sierra Systems will play in the Health Support Services (HSS) RFP.

Some members are concerned NTT DATA will use Sierra Systems to take on Health Support Services and its employees as a sub-contractor for NTT DATA.

The BCGEU was in touch with NTT DATA representatives in an effort to learn who will be the new employer: Sierra Systems or NTT DATA. This is important because we have an agreement in place with NTT DATA on successorship. This guarantees union recognition and the continuation of the existing collective agreement. We have now received clarification on how NTT DATA's purchase of Sierra Systems will affect this.

The BCGEU has confirmed the following with NTT DATA: the prior agreement regarding successorship of the union and the collective agreement is unaffected. NTT DATA will be the employer on record to receive the HSS RFP work and employees.

Sierra Systems will not be used to subvert the successorship.

Government controls the RFP process and due diligence has to be done - a big job that takes time. Your union understands the uncertainty of this situation is stressful.

Please know the BCGEU is working to ensure your collective agreement rights are adhered to and that we are watching the Health Support Services RFP transfer closely. We will update you again when we have more information.
